Dr. Gregory Gordon, EdD
Dr. Gregory M. Gordon is a tenured History Professor at the College of Lake County (CLC) and has served in that capacity since 1991. Professor Gordon received a 1994 certificate of commendation from the American Association of State and Local History for the Lake County African American Oral History Project. For five years. Gregory Gordon served as the President of the Lake County Discovery Museum Foundation Board and serves on the Profiles in Excellence Black History Month Programming Committee for the Lake County Forest Preserves since 1992.
In addition to serving as a contributing editor for multiple college textbooks in U.S. history, Dr. Gordon recently published a paper for the 2025 first edition of Current Issues in Criminal Justice by Cognella Press. His paper is entitled: The History of Policing BIPOC Populations in the United States prior to the 20th Century.
In addition to teaching U.S. History and African American History at the College of Lake County for many years, Professor Gordon also served as a visiting professor at Canterbury Christ Church University in the United Kingdom and Xi’an International University in China. Dr. Gordon’s degrees consist of the following: B.S. and M.S., Illinois State University; M.A., Northwestern University; Ed.D., Northern Illinois University. Professor Gordon was born in Waukegan and raised in Zion, Illinois. He is the son of Allen Gordon and the late Barbara Gordon.
