Make History Matter: Session 1

Learn about the numerous ways that you can help your community by volunteering for the Waukegan Historical Society. Volunteering has a meaningful, positive impact on your life. Not only can volunteering give you a sense of accomplishment, but it is a great way to meet new people and also strengthen a resume. In each session you will meet other new volunteers and learn how you can make a difference in the telling and preserving of Waukegan’s History. Session 1 covers Waukegan History Museum docent training, education pro- gram presenter, Tour of Homes, and the Research Library.

150 Years of Waukegan Photographs

This presentation will take you back in time to show what Waukegan has looked like over its 150 year existence. Metro History Fair documentaries made by Waukegan High School students will also be viewed.

This program is in conjunction with the Sesquicentennial Celebration of Waukegan in 2009. A brief Historical Society meeting with elections for the Board of Directors will precede the presentation. Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the program.

Dandelion Wine Festival

This year's theme for Waukegan's 10th Annual Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine Festival is "As Waukegan Grows". The festival includes artists, music, dance, a drum circle, food and craft vendors.

Standing Meetings

Museum Work Days are the first and third Saturday of each month, beginning at 9am. Board meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm.
